VSA Meet
Saturday and Sunday, August 7-8 @ Upper Valley Aquatic Center in WRJ
Swimmers can qualify for States either by achieving the qualifying time set by the Vermont Swim Association (VSA) or by being the fastest member of the team in a particular event if no other swimmer has achieved a qualifying time. This means your swimmer may be eligible. We will have more information in the next couple of weeks. Swimmers interested in qualifying for States should be sure to sign up for those events for our regular season meets. For more meet information (and it is excellent in detail), please go to www.vtswim.org.

State Qualifiers Include:
Carmen Bango, Laura Boyd, Mia Brown, Rachael Emery, Elle Gilbert, Maddie Gilbert, Issy Hiller, Madeline Hiller, Miranda Holson, Sadie Kuhn, Anna Ramsey, Kristin Ramsey, Campbell Boswell, Griffin Boswell, Jake LaPan, Alex Reed, Sam Stockwell, Colin Terwelp, Oliver Wilson, and Peter Wilson.

Achievements:
Despite the oppressive heat, our swimmers made a splash at the meet on Tuesday against the Connecticut River Valley Stingrays. First of all, congratulations to Gordon MacMaster and Hannah Reed who competed for the first time. We also want to recognize two outstanding improvements in the 200 Free: Eve Amato took off over 9 seconds, and Anna Ramsey dropped over 12 seconds. Other significant improvements include: Adi Wilson (25 free time; 8.47 seconds), Griffin Boswell (100 breast; 5.73 seconds), Oliver Wilson (50 free; 8 seconds) and Zane Fields (50 breast; 5 seconds). All told, 24 swimmers achieved personal bests at the meet. Your hard work is paying off! Also, well done to Miranda Holson, Colin Terwelp and Griffin Boswell who tied for Top Point Earner, each scoring 20 individual points for WST. Congratulations to all our WST swimmers on such a fantastic turn out and a strong performance. Thank you also to all our volunteers, including timers and officials. We couldn't do it without you!

Handy Health Hints:
Thanks to all the swimmers who have been bringing water to practice. Keep it up! In addition to hydrating and eating well, swimmers should be sure to take care of their ear canals, too. Not only do swimmers have to deal with all the wonderful ailments of childhood, some may be particularly susceptible to a painful ear infection called swimmer's ear. Preventative ear drops are available over-the-counter (ie: Swim Ear or AuroDri), or you can find recipes for home remedies (including the one listed on the Mayo Clinic link). If you are concerned your child might have swimmer's ear, be sure to check with a pediatrician as soon as possible to prevent further ear damage.
